New Chapter for Spelletjesdag: First Event Under Q2 on August 8

Amsterdam, August 10, 2025

Amsterdam, August 10, 2025 – On Saturday, August 9, 2025, the latest Spelletjesdag took place in Amsterdam, this time organized by Q2, the organization that will from now on be responsible for all Spelletjesdag gatherings. The event was held at the Goethe-Institut Amsterdam and once again offered participants an afternoon filled with games, learning, and community.

Spelletjesdag is a project that has been running since January 2023. Since its start, gatherings have been held every one to two months for LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers, especially from post-Soviet countries. Many Ukrainians were among the participants at this August edition. From now on, the scope of the project will expand, welcoming LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers from all over the world.

The activities typically include quizzes, bingo, the social game Weerwolven (in Dutch), informational sessions about Dutch society, culture, and politics, as well as plenty of opportunities to meet, talk, and share experiences.

Approximately 45 people attended this time, including many who had previously joined Spelletjesdag events, as well as new faces. The next Spelletjesdag is planned for October 4, 2025, again in Amsterdam. Q2 warmly invites both returning participants and newcomers. All LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugees living in the Netherlands are welcome.
